Mentorship Program

Why Mentoring?

• People of Color were awarded less than 15% of all PhDs awarded in the US over the past 5 years.

• Women of Color were awarded less than 9% of all PhDs.

• Studies show that 71% of Fortune 500 companies have mentoring programs and almost 40% of female employees exposed to senior mentors believe in their own leadership trajectory.

Program Goals

• Increase the number of women of color graduating with advanced degrees.

• Engage, empower, and retain WOC in STEM through:

•  Career Planning and Professional Development

• Tools and training to navigate as a WOC in STEM

• Exposure to Professional Women in STEM

• Connection to WOC from diverse institutions for communing and peer support

The mentoring syllabus is tailored to focus on key areas that are beneficial in any phase of the graduate program, Topics include branding, networking, mentorship and sponsorship, self-advocacy, and Entrepreneurship.
